Betreff: Jagged curves | Name: Terry Dennis (vsigns@gallatinriver.net) | 12.11.2000 00:46:45

When I cut a file with Larger text than 4 or 5 inchs I get intermitent jagged cuts especially on curves. Yet when I cut the same file from Anagraph 3.5 it cuts perfect. I have my interface set to hardware and all recomended settings per roland and cocut. Blade is new and properly adjusted. - serial cable. I was using parralel and had the same problem.
Need some help asap.

Dear Mr. Dennis,

in which size did you set the text? Did you enlage it in CoCut or in CorelDRAW?

Hello Terry,

Do you have the same problems with logos or only with text objects? If you only with text objects, did you turn the text into curves before you enlarged the text? (You should first enlarge the text, when it is still a text).

Ive tried it both ways. same results. I will run a couple more
tests with text sized each way to check that theory.
One would think that once a text becomes curves it could be resized
like any vector file. I cut many of my customers files at different sizes
after they are converted.

Hello Terry,

the problem is, that Corel calculates better curves, if the text was set in larger letters. If a text was set in 12pt, Corel turnes it only that way into curves, that it is sufficient for a printout in that size.
YouŽll get better curves, if you set the text directly in that size, you want to cut it.

I have finally resolved the jagged cut problem. You will be happy to here
that it was not a software issue. I started cutting out of anagraph software and sure enough I started having the same problem. The people I purchased my Rolandplotter from just could not accept that their new equipment might be the problem, but with your help and a lot of testing
I finally convinced them to bring me another cm300 and sure enough, I'm
cutting perfectly everytime. With that said I want you to know that cocut pro is everything you claimed. Very satisfied customer with product and support. Thank you for everything. Now if corel would just address the contour line problem it would be icing on the cake.

Best regards
Terry
